Description

This 3D model was originally created with Sketchup 8 and then converted to all other 3D formats. Native format is .skp 3dsmax scene is 3ds Max 2016 version, rendered with Vray 3.00 This is an entirely ficticious but realistic rendering of a spaceplane, a popular concept for a reusable SSTO (single stage to orbit) spacecraft that would allow the routine space access that the shuttle failed to deliver.

Such a spacecraft would take off using air-breathing jet engines and fly to the highest altitude and velocity possible with jet engines before lighting rocket engines. In theory, this could save tremendous fuel.

I don't actually know if this size would work in reality (such a spacecraft must be extremely light weight and carry enormous amounts of fuel in the one stage) but this isn't real.
