There are still a few days to submit your projects for animago AWARD & CONFERENCE

Knowing CGTrader community, its eagerness to participate in various competitions (our recent PBR challenge received 824 entries - isn’t this a great achievement?) and openness to sharing the expertise with fellow designers, we are now inviting those whose profile stem beyond modelling to join animago AWARDS & CONFERENCE. The event is celebrating its 21th edition, so this seems to be a good platform to share your digital artworks whether it is 3D animation, visual effects, visualization and digital art. Everyone around the globe is invited to join free of charge before June 19th on animago website.

Real-life Objects PBR Challenge is over and we have the winners!

Sometimes it feels like time just flies by – just a few weeks ago I invited a friend to take a chance and try his luck in CGTrader’s Real-life Objects PBR Challenge, and here it is already over and we need to announce the winners. After looking through more than 800 models submitted for this challenge, CGTrader team, together with partners from Quixel, Marmoset, 3D-Coat and Dosch Design, had quite a hard time to decide on only a few winning entries, but here they are - the best of the best in the two categories.

CGTrader launches a competition for bloggers interested in design

Watching the concept of design evolve is like a great movie. Once there was a time when people even had a real definition for it: for example, Oxford English dictionary defines design as “a plan or drawing produced to show the look and function or workings of a building, garment, or other object before it is made”. But does it really capture the complexity and variety of contexts the term is used in? 3D, interior, fashion, graphics, web, industrial, product, urban… all these words can be (and are, often!) followed by the term design. It actually seems there are only two things clear about it. The first - it encompasses sort of creativity in solution. The other - the area is evolving rapidly in both scope and depth that it is nearly impossible to track where design is going in various areas and how these diverse fields relate.

Autodesk’s 3ds Max is now integrated with CGTrader: effective processes and the start of new trend

April 19, 2017 Autodesk is launching an update to its most popular 3D software's 3ds Max Asset Library. With a bunch of other features such as adding custom thumbnails, deep search of 3ds Max files by stats such as face count, renderer type, or version, a significant upgrade comes to the library of assets itself. With this new integration with CGTrader, 3ds Max users can now access the library of thousands of 3D models without leaving the native environment.

From modeling to game development: the story behind the Claw Hunter

From modeling to game development: the story behind the Claw Hunter

“This island is revered by the tribes living on adjacent islands as a place where the heaven meets the earth - a forbidden ground. Some tribesmen are banished here for their crimes, some go here voluntarily to mine precious minerals and harvest rare plants. All must fight for their lives though as the island is populated by the dragons of the old times...”

These are the lines you read in the description of a new adventure game Claw Hunter, co-created by Jiri Adamec, or simply Adamec as known within CGTrader community. Having joined CGTrader in 2014, Jiri has brought some amazing work and expertise of developing photo realistic animal models to CGTrader community, and today he is sharing the story behind developing a video game.

In the game you can see Adamec’s own 3D models like Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Raptor, etc., which can also be found on his CGTrader profile.
