They trace their early prehistoric origins to Island Southeast Asia and form part of the larger Austronesian ethnolinguistic group with an Urheimat in Taiwan. They speak the Polynesian languages, a branch of the Oceanic subfamily of the Austronesian language family. Polynesians, including Samoans, Tongans, Niueans, Cook Islands Māori, Tahitian Mā'ohi, Hawaiian Māoli, Marquesans and New Zealand Māori, are a subset of the Austronesian peoples. They share the same origins as the indigenous peoples of Taiwan, Southeast Asia (especially the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia), Micronesia, and Madagascar. The Māori are the indigenous Polynesian people of mainland New Zealand (Aotearoa). Māori originated with settlers from East Polynesia, who arrived in New Zealand in several waves of canoe voyages between roughly 1320 and 1350. Over several centuries in isolation, these settlers developed their own distinctive culture, whose language, mythology, crafts, and performing arts evolved independently from those of other eastern Polynesian cultures. Some early Māori moved to the Chatham Islands, where their descendants became New Zealand's other indigenous Polynesian ethnic group, the Moriori. Samoans or Samoan people (Samoan: tagata Sāmoa) are the indigenous Polynesian people of the Samoan Islands, an archipelago in Polynesia, who speak the Samoan language. The group's home islands are politically and geographically divided between the Independent State of Samoa and American Samoa, an unincorporated territory of the United States of America. Though divided by national border, the culture and language are the same. The Samoan people and culture form a vital link and stepping stone in the formation and spread of Polynesian culture, language and religion throughout Eastern Polynesia. Polynesian trade, religion, war, and colonialism are important markers within Polynesian culture that are almost certainly rooted in the Samoan culture. Samoa's colonial history with the kingdom of Tonga, Fiji and French Polynesia form the basis of modern Polynesian culture.\nMalu is a word in the Samoan language for a female-specific tattoo of cultural significance. The malu covers the legs from just below the knee to the upper thighs just below the buttocks, and is typically finer and delicate in design compared to the Pe'a, the equivalent tattoo for males. The malu takes its name from a particular motif of the same name, usually tattooed in the popliteal fossa (sometimes referred to as the kneepit, or poplit) behind the knee. It is one of the key motifs not seen on men. According to Samoan scholar Albert Wendt and tattooist Su'a Suluape Paulo II, in tattooing, the term 'malu' refers to notions of sheltering and protection. Samoan women were also tattooed on the hands and sometimes the lower abdomen. These practices have undergone a resurgence since the late 1990s.\n\nAll Diffuse, Normal Bump, Ambient Oclussion, Roughness \u0026 Height Maps Included\n\nIncludes 2 Animations In FBX Format: Walk In Place \u0026 Walk Forward ","imageAlt":"3D Native Polynesian Female","url":"https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/character/woman/indigenous-polynesian-female","isCLDApplicable":false,"isSaleOffApplicable":true,"gaAttributes":{},"primaryImage":{"gridFallbackUrl":"https://media.cgtrader.com/variants/UaeGzzhoVa2LqV5UHh7QxphV/a26e47dab5f2d22c43d6c5ce4b4b46ecc30c70918878397cba1a10c1e35d7bfc/t_00000.jpg","gridUrl":"https://media.cgtrader.com/variants/UaeGzzhoVa2LqV5UHh7QxphV/78add9c2f02fbd73a43ffb3970be38683c5f15eff6ca849dc78c644f4ff9ce1b/t_00000.webp","isAdultContent":false},"modelInfo":{"modelUrl":"https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/character/woman/indigenous-polynesian-female","isCgtVerified":false,"types":{"printReady":false,"animated":true,"pbr":false,"rigged":true,"lowPoly":false}},"metaverseFormatsList":[{"id":5,"name":".fbx","is_native":false},{"id":2,"name":".3ds","is_native":false},{"id":6,"name":".c4d","is_native":false},{"id":25,"name":".dae","is_native":false},{"id":17,"name":".max","is_native":false},{"id":12,"name":".obj","is_native":false},{"id":null,"name":null,"is_native":false}],"categorySlug":"character","subcategorySlug":"woman","categoryTitle":"Character","subcategoryTitle":"Woman","schemaImageUrl":"https://img-new.cgtrader.com/items/1855745/4fe4dafd54/native-polynesian-female-3d-model-4fe4dafd54.webp","saleOffDiscount":50,"eligibleForSubscription":false,"subscriptionSubscribed":false,"subscriptionPotential":false}},{"id":"6644074","type":"listingItem","attributes":{"id":6644074,"title":"King Kamehameha I","price":39.0,"description":"King Kamehameha the first, the historic first united ruler of the Hawaiian islands. In the mediterranean, where it is commonly cultivated, it can grow up to heights of 40 ft; however, in tropical climates it can grow much taller. The largest Ficus Microcarpa on record is in Hawaii, reaching up to 110 ft in height and 250 ft in crown spread, with over 1000 aerial trunks. The species occurs mainly at low elevations, and its natural habitats include tropical rainforests, river edges, coasts, swamps and mangroves. The tree is considered a major invasive species in Hawaii, Florida, Bermuda, Central America, and South America. Ficus. microcarpa is widely used as a street and ornamental tree in areas of coastal California. Its strong roots can lift sidewalks and pavements, and now that symbiotic fig wasp populations have been established in California as well, the trees produce fertile fruit which is feasted upon by birds, who subsequently spread the seeds. \n","imageAlt":"3D model XfrogPlants Chinese Banyan - Ficus Microcarpa","url":"https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/plant/other/xfrogplants-chinese-banyan-ficus-microcarpa","isCLDApplicable":false,"isSaleOffApplicable":true,"gaAttributes":{},"primaryImage":{"gridFallbackUrl":"https://media.cgtrader.com/variants/Wtv3nx2Tr2zQ1WvUgKiUu2o8/a26e47dab5f2d22c43d6c5ce4b4b46ecc30c70918878397cba1a10c1e35d7bfc/ficus_microcarpa_01.jpg","gridUrl":"https://media.cgtrader.com/variants/Wtv3nx2Tr2zQ1WvUgKiUu2o8/78add9c2f02fbd73a43ffb3970be38683c5f15eff6ca849dc78c644f4ff9ce1b/ficus_microcarpa_01.webp","isAdultContent":false},"modelInfo":{"modelUrl":"https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/plant/other/xfrogplants-chinese-banyan-ficus-microcarpa","isCgtVerified":false,"types":{"printReady":false,"animated":true,"pbr":true,"rigged":false,"lowPoly":false}},"metaverseFormatsList":[{"id":17,"name":".max","is_native":false},{"id":12,"name":".obj","is_native":false},{"id":21,"name":".blend","is_native":false},{"id":5,"name":".fbx","is_native":false}],"categorySlug":"plant","subcategorySlug":"other","categoryTitle":"Plant","subcategoryTitle":"Other","schemaImageUrl":"https://img-new.cgtrader.com/items/3038094/eb4a60059d/xfrogplants-chinese-banyan-ficus-microcarpa-3d-model-eb4a60059d.webp","saleOffDiscount":0,"eligibleForSubscription":false,"subscriptionSubscribed":true,"subscriptionPotential":false}},{"id":"668270","type":"listingItem","attributes":{"id":668270,"title":"Lockheed C-37 Royal Air Force","price":89.0,"description":"This high poly model is build very near to scale and is within a couple of percent of the actual dimensions. This model has a moderately detailed cockpit and the following animateable features; sliding canopy, ailerons, elevators, rudder, and wheels. These models render very well and look very realistic using good animation, lighting and rendering technique. It is a hemiepiphyte, that is, it grows as an epiphyte on rocks or other trees at the start of its life and resembles a strangling fig. Just as a strangling fig it overgrows and strangles its host tree with its many aerial roots. The tree produces a fleshy, light green but poisonous fruit; once the fruit has split, the seeds are favored by birds and other wildlife. It originated in Asia and is most commonly found growing wild in Vietnam, Southern China, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Myanmar, India and Bangladesh. Wild plants can grow up to 9 ft high, and are widely used in gardens in warm and subtropical climates. Polynesian people in the Pacific islands use the fragrant blooms in their flower necklaces, which are called Ei in the Cook Islands, Hei in French Polynesia and Lei in Hawaii. Gardenia flowers can be eaten raw, pickled, or preserved in honey.
