The only downside is that they’re super light and can easily tip over with my carefully mixed paint inside.\n\nSo I’ve created a holder for the individual cups to fit in and eliminate the chance of them falling over.\nThe holder has four (4) places to hold paint brushes and the recessed areas gently lock the cup in place.\n\nI think it a nice hobby-centric way to get another use out of our egg cartons. The stand is meant to resemble a classic pawn.\n\nA complete chess set composes of two stands with 16 rings each. There are two versions of the stand. One is thinner and the rings are looser on it and the other is thicker and looks a bit more organised when stacked. I prefer the thinner version because it’s simple, feels nicer when stacking figures and looks nicer with a few rings which is how it is most of the game. \n\nIt can also be used as a checkers if you print more pawns.\n\nThe stopper at the top of the sand can be used as a spinning top which you can use as a time limit for each turn if you want to play speed chess. Spin the top and you have until it stops spinning to take your turn.\n\nThe download contains all the models ready to be 3D printed on a 200 mm print bed. The template is on an A3 paper (Word doesn’t support bigger) which is enough but it’s better to print the same files as an A2 sized document (choose “Scale to paper size”) for the figures to fit with comfortable spacing.\nGlue – to join the top with the pin \n\nSIZE\nAt 100% scale the models are made to fit the tube that is part of the Prusa MK3S kit box which has an inside diameter 40 mm. The largest model which is the stand base is 146mm tall. \nYou can scale the model so it fits a tube you have available.\n\n3D PRINTING SETTINGS\nThe model needs no supports. I used a 0.15 mm layer height to print the figures and the top and 0.2 mm for the stand.\n10% gyroid infill\nPLA filament\n\nPrinting settings will vary greatly depending on your specific printer.\n\nDo you like the model and don't have a 3D printer?
