PT 109, commanded by Lt (jg) John F. Kennedy, the 35th U.S. president, is the most recognizable boat of the PT 103 class. On the night of Aug 2-3 1943, PT 109 was rammed and sunk by the IJN Amagiri in Blackett Strait of the Solomon Islands. Kennedy’s ordeal following that collision was dramatized in the “PT 109” movie. The 80 ft ELCO PT boats were also used in the filming of “They Were Expendable” with John Wayne. This scale model has been designed for high speed radio control operation using three brushless out runner motors on 4S LIPO batteries. Hull details include triple 10mm (or 8mm) propeller tube bore, brushless motor mounts and rudders. Scale details include a 20mm Oerlikon cannon, twin 50 caliber machine gun turrets, torpedo tubes, depth charge racks, rear mufflers and Cockpit Bridge. Removable chartroom and day cabin assemblies provide access to radio control equipment and batteries.\nAt 1/20th scale, the model dimensions are 1216 x 319 x 376mm. Over 1000 hours was expended in model’s design for 3d printing on Sketchup CAD tools and the CURA slicer. Hull lines and other details came from Original ELCO factory drawings. \n\nThe hull and integrated deck are printed in four sections vertically. A 3D printer with a volume of 300x300x330mm is recommended. However, the hull was also divided into 16 sections for printers with a 250 x 250 mm bed.\n\nPlan on using 3 to 4 boxes of PLA filament. Instructions and interactive 3d-pdf files are included to aid in the assembly of this large “plastic” kit.\nAll 186 STL files were manifold checked before printing. CURA v4.5 project files, and compiled gcodes are included.\nThe RC performance is better than scale speed with a 4S LIPO battery. If the model gets damaged as a result of a collision, another can be 3D printed making this model truly “Expendable” .\n\nThe model was printed using Ben Levi's open source BLV_MGN Cube #D Printer. A unique characteristic of this Vosper design were the pathways on the foredeck and hull for lauching torpedoes. MTB 73 was the first Vosper boat to use American Packard marine engines, the same engines used by the American PT boats such as John F Kennedy's PT 109. \n\nThe US Navy did not use Vosper MTBs during WWII. However, U.S. manufacturers did build 136 of them under license for the Royal Navy as part of the Lend Lease program with Great Britain and the Soviet Union. US Navy PT 73, the boat used in the 1960s TV show and movie “McHale’s Navy” was actually PT-694. PT-694 was a Vosper MTB design produced in the USA for the Soviet Union. Completed too late for the war, it was purchased by Howard Hughes who used it as a tender for his “Spruce Goose” aircraft. It was eventually sold it to Universal Studios and reconfigured as PT 73.\n\nThe model’s dimensions are: 1106 x 293 x 446 mm. Scale details includes torpedo tubes, twin Vickers machine gun and four crew figures.\n\nThis model boat is design for radio controlled operation using triple brushless motors and the setup is similar to the bensworx 1 20 PT 109 RC Model Boat.\n\nAll stls were sliced with Cura v5.8 and test printed. The lifeboat davit has falls (now made of wire, historically of manila rope) that are used to lower the lifeboat into the water.[3] Davits can also be used as man-overboard safety devices to retrieve personnel from the water. The maintaining and operation of davits is all under jurisdiction of the International Maritime Organization. The regulations are enforced by the country's own coast guard.Davits were first devised in the 17th century for use by whaling ships in the Greenland whaling grounds. They began to be introduced into Royal Navy warships in the late 18th-century and originally took the form of squared baulks of timber. Curved iron davits began to be introduced later in the 19th century.[4] Development of the davit has also been in terms of material. Traditionally davits have been made in aluminium or steel but recent advances in composite material have led to the manufacture of davits in carbon fibre which has an excellent strength-to-weight ratio. This means davits can be stowed away when not in use and the same davit used in multiple deck sockets fitted permanently on deck.[5]_","imageAlt":"3D printable model PM Boat Davit","url":"https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/games-toys/other/pm-boat-davit","isCLDApplicable":false,"isSaleOffApplicable":false,"gaAttributes":{},"primaryImage":{"gridFallbackUrl":"https://media.cgtrader.com/variants/HWfGaDmpFeovsvCtqcednHFb/a26e47dab5f2d22c43d6c5ce4b4b46ecc30c70918878397cba1a10c1e35d7bfc/davit4.jpg","gridUrl":"https://media.cgtrader.com/variants/HWfGaDmpFeovsvCtqcednHFb/78add9c2f02fbd73a43ffb3970be38683c5f15eff6ca849dc78c644f4ff9ce1b/davit4.webp","isAdultContent":false},"modelInfo":{"modelUrl":"https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/games-toys/other/pm-boat-davit","isCgtVerified":false,"types":{"printReady":true,"animated":false,"pbr":false,"rigged":false,"lowPoly":false}},"metaverseFormatsList":[{"id":51,"name":".stl","is_native":false},{"id":12,"name":".obj","is_native":false}],"categorySlug":"games-toys","subcategorySlug":"other","categoryTitle":"Games \u0026 Toys","subcategoryTitle":"Other","schemaImageUrl":"https://img-new.cgtrader.com/items/4522160/8ba8fa05da/pm-boat-davit-3d-model-8ba8fa05da.webp","saleOffDiscount":0,"eligibleForSubscription":false,"subscriptionSubscribed":false,"subscriptionPotential":false}},{"id":"2914015","type":"listingItem","attributes":{"id":2914015,"title":"12 Boat Propeller","price":8.99,"description":"12 Boat Propeller for 3D Print, Commerical usage alowed.\n\nAll holes has the same diameter but different depth.\n\nAll Blades are thicker than real life proportion to support printing\n\nHave not been tested for real usage.","imageAlt":"12 Boat Propeller 3D printable model","url":"https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/science/engineering/12-boat-propeller","isCLDApplicable":false,"isSaleOffApplicable":false,"gaAttributes":{},"primaryImage":{"gridFallbackUrl":"https://media.cgtrader.com/variants/ASaxD4rH6DnPW99k8qjvsQfx/a26e47dab5f2d22c43d6c5ce4b4b46ecc30c70918878397cba1a10c1e35d7bfc/2.jpg","gridUrl":"https://media.cgtrader.com/variants/ASaxD4rH6DnPW99k8qjvsQfx/78add9c2f02fbd73a43ffb3970be38683c5f15eff6ca849dc78c644f4ff9ce1b/2.webp","isAdultContent":false},"modelInfo":{"modelUrl":"https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/science/engineering/12-boat-propeller","isCgtVerified":false,"types":{"printReady":true,"animated":false,"pbr":false,"rigged":false,"lowPoly":false}},"metaverseFormatsList":[{"id":51,"name":".stl","is_native":false},{"id":21,"name":".blend","is_native":false}],"categorySlug":"science","subcategorySlug":"engineering","categoryTitle":"Science","subcategoryTitle":"Engineering","schemaImageUrl":"https://img-new.cgtrader.com/items/2914015/56fd78b9bd/12-boat-propeller-3d-model-56fd78b9bd.webp","saleOffDiscount":0,"eligibleForSubscription":true,"subscriptionSubscribed":true,"subscriptionPotential":false}},{"id":"4368716","type":"listingItem","attributes":{"id":4368716,"title":"Jet Boat propulsion drive","price":5.0,"description":"Introducing the revolutionary Jet Boat Propulsion Drive designed for 3D printing.
