1/10
This is a 1/16 scale model of a spare road wheel for the M1A2 Abrams tank. The model is specifically engineered to be mounted onto the stock Heng Long turret storage baskets (designed for a 2mm basket tube diameter).
The model is fully optimized for FDM 3D printing with a 0.2mm nozzle.
Please note: While the main wheel body can likely be printed with a standard 0.4mm nozzle, the fine details of the track guide tooth require a 0.2mm nozzle.
Resin Printing (SLA/DLP)The files can also be easily prepared, oriented, and supported by yourself if you prefer photo-polymer resin printing.
Smart Multi-Part DesignThe wheel consists of 4 separate parts that assemble using model glue. This intentional design provides several advantages:
Ensures a perfectly clean, high-detail look on both the front and back sides.
Separates the rubber tire (rubber band) into a standalone piece, making it incredibly easy to paint separately or print using a different material (such as TPU).
Mounting & HardwareFollowing the design of the real tank, the track link guide tooth acts as the primary mounting/retaining element. In this model, the connector proportions have been slightly modified to ensure a perfect fit onto the RC tank's wire storage baskets.
To secure the wheel assembly together and mount it, you will need standard M2 screws/bolts and M2 nuts.
Bonus: I have also included a mounting bracket/bar for attaching the spare wheel to the turret roof, as seen on real M1A2 SEP V2 tanks. Please note that figuring out how to adhere this bracket to your turret roof and secure the wheel to it is left up to your own modeling preference.
