Hello everyone,I’d like to present my version of Cobra’s ship (the cobra turtle), from that iconic 1980s anime adapted from Buichi Terasawa’s manga.Unlike other spacecraft from that era, Cobra’s ship has a very simple design: a mostly rectangular, box-like shape, with relatively little detail in the anime—far from the sophistication of ships like the Arcadia from Captain Harlock or the Odysseus. However—and this is what makes it so interesting—it has the ability to transform into a mechanical snake by reconfiguring its structure into a linear form.It was essential for me to preserve this transformation feature in my design, while staying as faithful as possible to the original material—which is always a bit challenging with animated works that tend to take liberties with the laws of physics and mechanics. After quite a bit of thought, I believe I’ve achieved a satisfying result: in ship mode, my model is detailed and remains rigid, and once transformed into a snake, each module is articulated with three rotational degrees of freedom, allowing for a wide range of positions.Printed at 100% scale, the model measures about 30 cm in ship mode. It comes with a stand shaped like a ruined church in a desert, around which the ship can be coiled in snake mode—much like in episodes 6 and 7 (the Brain Thief arc), where Cobra and Jane bury Catherine. As usual, if you print each part in the correct color and assemble the model, you will achieve the same result as shown in my photos. I printed it on my BambuLab P1P with 0.12 mm layer height. The package includes instructions detailing the colors to use and the assembly steps, and I’m also available to provide support if needed.Happy printing, everyone!
