1/96 and 1/72 scale RC model of the Civil War era CSS Virginia. I designed it to have a 5mm shaft tube, and 2mm rudder line tubes (1/96 scale.) I have included a PDF of assembly instructions in the file, along with various notes for how I plan to build this. (Will update the pictures when completed.) The casemate and hull are designed to be connected with 5mm x 1mm neodymium magnets.
Note: The instructions and the measurements listed are for the 1/96 original model. For the upscaled 1/72 model, multiply dimensions by 1.33371 to get the new dimensions if needed.
For a quick preview and to check printer size compatibility, the following are the largest dimensions from all of the pieces: Biggest Length: 230mm, Biggest Width: 160mm, Biggest Height: 86mm.
Edit: It was requested that slice the model to fit an A-1 mini printer, which means everything had to be under 180mm. I redesigned the model with the requested specs, along with the connecting ribs and alignment holes. I did NOT recreate a new instruction manual for these files, however they are numbered fore to aft. For the hull, there was not enough room for the guide holes between parts 5 and 6, so I designed a connecter piece to fit between the two. It should be rather straightforward to align them using the shaft and connector piece, but if not feel free to reach out!
