The Topfhelm from Dargen almost did not cover the neck (front only), and it was quite comfortable to wear for the cavalry despite its reduced visibility. Thus, it was not used by infantry. This helmet was worn over a chain-mail hood with a special cap comforter around the head. The mentioned quality aimed to reduce the risks of breaking the helm. It was one of the reasons why this. The helm also had a cross-shaped facial made from steel.
