I took the plunge and purchased this set of files, looking for a bigger project for my 3D printer. My printer is a Prusa MKIIS so I was unable to print at “full” or designed scale but at 75% it still built a hull well over 4’ long...not too shabby! Let me tell you, this design is worth every penny. There are some really smart and inspired ideas here for connecting together parts of a modular hull as well as a good deal of smart compromise between super-scale details and RC boat survivability. I should also mention his instruction manual is also top-notch! Looks great all around and I’m really happy with the build so far. PS - if you are going to scale down keep in mind you’ll have some extra work configuring running gear based on his full scale design.

Thanks heaps for the great review! It inspires me to make more when people like what I do. And thanks for the experimentation with the scaling. Your pioneering work will help others to puechase knowing it is possible to scale.

What model main engines did you installed? Did you installed RC boat turbo jet into it? Which size did you purchased for 75% scale? What about other electronics? Thank you in advance!

I like the Armidale Class Patrol Boat, but I wish there was a good or even a basic .3dm or .stl file for the Austal Cape Class Patrol Boat!

After down loading, looked through various files and all looks as expected, PDF file of instructions seams well presented. I will not be starting printing for sometime, so cannot say what actual print fitting is like, but all looks good up to now.

This is a very good model in an impressive scale. It has good instructions and goes together very well. I will say I wish it was designed to be printed on a 200mm machine instead of a 300mm. Scaling down as I have done is problematic and I don't recommend it - unless you're quite good at modeling. The standard scale motor mounts are simple, sturdy and neat as is the bow thruster design. Scaling causes these components to no longer mate correctly with standard electric motors so its a bit of a can of worms. Im planning on printing this boat again when I get a larger printer so I can build it as designed. All said, this is a handsome, sleek and very fast boat with really neat features. I recommend it.

It looks good. I have a bad habit of getting into files and altering them to suit my own purposes. Bigger, smaller different propulsion. This time I am going to go with everything as it stands. I'll let you know in a few months.
