This helm belonged to the of the XIIIth century. It is a cylindrical cavalry helmet with a cross-shaped laid-on the front part. This helmet completely covers the warrior’s head, which leaves only a narrow slit with a small for breathing. Perhaps, some helmets were narrow in shape. The Topfhelm from Dargen almost did not cover the neck (front only), and it was quite comfortable to wear for the cavalry despite its reduced visibility. Thus, it was not used by infantry. This helmet was worn over a chain-mail hood with a special cap comforter around the head. The mentioned quality aimed to reduce the risks of breaking the helm. It was one of the reasons why this. The helm also had a cross-shaped facial made from steel.
