Transformers Lightning Bug from Cosmic Rust Episode

Transformers Lightning Bug from Cosmic Rust Episode 3D print model

Description

Back to a little bit of G1 goodness with this one - the Lightning Bug from the G1 episode Cosmic Rust!

Whilst coming upon the dead Autobot outpost of Antilla, Megatron and gang stumbled upon this mystical artifact/weapon which also brought the curse of the Cosmic Rust with them. When activated, this powerful weapon would light up and zap whatever stands in the way.

In homage to how it appears on screen, this 3d model of the lightning bug comes with a pedestal, allowing it to stand upright. It has also has been designed with a hollow main body so you can customize and add inner lights if you so choose.

How the pieces go together are shown in the attach diagram.

The wings peg in through the holes on the back of the top piece, and are secured onto the c-clips on the inner frame. The inner frame is a template base of sorts where electronics can be added as you like.

As a demonstration, here's a very rudimentary attempt at adding lights. It should end up looking something like this:

With the wings extended, a combiner with articulated fingers (typically from an upgrade kit) will be able to hold it up too:

and perhaps keep it just out of reach of the Starscream's mischievous paws! =P

So there you have it, a nice little throwback to an earlier Transformers episode - as usual, have fun 3d printing and adding this to your collection! =)
