This is part of a multi-item design so people can build a platform to the standard and type they want. (This is not a complete platform, top surface needs to be added)
The idea is to produce single sided platform bases of different widths made the resemble different building materials like Brick, Concrete Blocks for example, these will come in different widths (40mm, 60mm, and 8mm) and will be 150mm long with a link tie that will help join the sections together, end slopes will also be included in each base design. Edgeing stones will be a separate item that I will include links to, and you can glue these in place using the edging tool supplied. The wider platforms allow space for platform buildings, which all depends on the width you require or have available.
Each section will have various holes centrally for adding station lights, which are covered by blanks that can easily be removed. there will be plugs available for filling these holes that enable you to have different hole diameters.
Also, there will be a fixing hole for screwing or bolting the platform to your baseboards; these are hidden with a blanking plug that can easily be removed. The tiny holes on the surface are for helping with bonding your preferred platform surface, for example, when using something like tile grout for the surface, it needs something to grip to stop it peeling off once laid.
This design is 95% identical to the design I have used for my Model Railway clubs platform, and some of the pictures included are from the club's layout. I have been really happy with how the clubs platform has progressed and thought others could benefit from it.
The design has been designed for a OO model railway layout with this base 17mm high, and 150mm long, the actual widths are 39mm, 59mm, and 79mm, which allows the edging stone to overhang by 1mm on each side. The platform base is 17mm high which allows for a 2mm high edging stone and a 2mm underlay under for the track. The end slope has the same dimensions but is approximately 122mm long.
I recommend printing this platform inverted to assist with printing and not needing any supports. The end slopes will need to be printed in the correct orientation, but have been designed to require very few supports. Please see the Photos for more information.
Coping/Edging stones can be found with these links, use the version most relevent to your era.https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/games-toys/other/model-railway-platform-edging-coping-stoneshttps://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/hobby-diy/hobby-accessories/model-railway-modern-platform-edging-coping-stones
The platform marking tool can be used to mark distance from track to platform base and is used to get the correct distance from track to platform edging stones for a straight platform. Tool Components are designed to be printed on a FDM printer without any supports but need to be printed inverted. Just needs some rolling stock wheels when printed.
This item has been designed at OO gauge, 1/76.2 scale. For HO Gauge print at 87%, 1/87 Scale,For O Gauge UK print at 175%, 1/43.5 scale,For O Gauge International print at 158%, 1/48 scale,For TT Gauge print at 63.5%, 1/120 scale, for N Gauge UK print at 51.5%, 1/148 Scale, (Caution: I have not test printed this in N gauge scale).
For OO I used a 0.4mm nozzle with a layer height of 0.08mm, takes a while to print each section but well worth using the lower layer height, For N gauge and maybe TT it may well be worth using a 0.2mm nozzle.
