It is not strictly speaking something you as a customer need to know, but you may find it interesting.\n\nThis project originated in an earlier project to design a set of 3d-printable weapons based off of the arsenal used by the alien and XCOM side in Terror From The Deep. The original idea was to design a single, unarmed Aquatoid model and include it in the weapon pack, so that customers had an appropriate model to attach the weapons to. I ended up making an entire squad of armed Aquatoids instead, mainly because the weapons have strange shapes and it is difficult to design a single Aquatoid model that suits all weapons.\nThe models are fairly simple, since at the time when I first started sketching the basic model I had only intended it as a minor complement to another product. But the original Aquatoids from the game are fairly simplistic themselves, so there's not a huge discrepancy. I based the design off of the Aquatoid game sprites in the battlescape rather than the artwork in the UFOPaedia. This makes them somewhat bulkier than how they look in the artwork, which suits printing at miniature scale (28mm-ish) better.\n\nThe default scale when you load the Aquatoids into your slicer will be roughly 2cm in height. This is supposed to match a slightly shorter-than-human creature at 28mm scale. Feel free to alter the size of the models before printing if you prefer some other size or scale.\n\n**Weapon packs**\n\nBelow are links to the weapon packs that preceeded this model pack. They include two packs of weapons as separate models, but no Aquatoids.
