DESCRIPTION

Ceratosaurus was a medium-sized theropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Jurassic period, around 153 to 148 million years ago. Measuring up to 6 to 7 meters (20 to 23 feet) in length and weighing up to 1 ton, Ceratosaurus is notable for its distinctive features, including a prominent horn on its snout and a pair of smaller horns above its eyes. It also had a row of osteoderms (bony plates) running down its back. Ceratosaurus had powerful jaws filled with sharp, serrated teeth, making it an effective predator. Its fossils have been found primarily in North America, particularly in the Morrison Formation, providing important insights into the diversity and ecology of Jurassic theropods.
