DESCRIPTION

This Model is a 3d scale reproduction of the Standard U.S.Navy Steam Cutter 40ft long, as described in the Navy book dated 1902, by A.M.P Maschmeyer. The project considered a Steam Engine vessel, with two auxiliary sails and support oars. The wooden hull shape was standardized for different boat dimensions: 28', 30', 33', 36' and 40', having different internal arrangements. The present Model is the 40' version.

We already published, two years ago, the same model, made with 3dSMax13, Blender 2.79 and Blender 2.80.Such models remain valid, but now we like to publish an upgraded Blender 3.01 version, using PBR and suitable for Eevee and Cycles rendering.

Conversion to other softwares is quite immediate as no procedural material has been used and all objects are polygonal meshes; ngons have been generally avoided, quads preferred.Grouping of objects in Collections has been optimized to simplify 3D-Printing of different parts.

The Model includes a simple sea/sky landscape in a separate Collection, needing only to be activated.Sails or tent arrangement, present in different Collections, can be alternatively activated. Verts and Faces increase respectively to 56815 and to 60622 when Landscape is used.Texture images are 14, for a total of 2Mb.

Sails show white color, but being them obtained from red sail images, through a color component reduction, is it easy to get red sails playing with relevant color nodes.People on board and boiler smoke are not supplied, they are simply CC0 cutout images found on the net in purepng site.

Blend file contains both Tent and Sails objects, while two versions, one with Tent and one with Sails, are given for obj, x3d and wrl version. The Model is ready to be rendered in Eevee and Cycles; when using Cycles please disable the Sun Light named for Eevee as it is too strong for Cycles.
