Skoda Low-Floor Tram

Skoda Low-Floor Tram Low-poly 3D model

Description

Low-floor Škoda ForCity Smart tram for city of Helsinki (FIN) Bogies of particular tram are designed to rotate freely and withstand constant changes of Helsinki’ urban landscape. Particular tram was designed to suit needs of Helsinki light railway needs. Turns are numerous, sharp and steep.

3D model is combined of modular carriages (sections), head section and tail car. Bump maps, weathering effects, reflections, multiple imperfections are distributed around the model to bring authenticity and blur computational touch, to make it look realistic. PBR materials, Worked out Topology, non-overlapping UVW

Vehicle is 27m long, 2.5m wide. It has 4 trolleys and uses 1000mm rail gauge Equipment and complex parts - bogies, pantograph, gangways - are developed according to real model dimensions. High quality photography and open technical data was taken in consideration.

Outer shell of model is designed, following industrial design principles - tram body is assembled of panels with physical seams. This approach enhances perception of model, makes it look less linear and plain. Physically created spacings produce shadows, help to trace visual borders between elements. Finally, this allows to build some hierarchy among many parts and catch observer’s eye.
