Type HXD2B electric locomotive is a high power AC drive, six axle trunk freight electric locomotive. It is one of the six types of three axis type harmonic type electric locomotives with the largest power 9600 kW traction motor in China (the remaining two types are HXD1B and HXD3B). This type of car is jointly developed by china CNR group, Datong Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd. and Alstom Ltd in france. Its design takes Alston PRIMA6000 locomotive as the prototype vehicle. Model number HXD2B (number is manufacturer code: 2 stands for Datong Electric Locomotive), commonly known as harmony 2B type electric locomotive (vehicle number HXD2Bxxxx).
