Description

German self-propelled gun of the Second World War Jagdpanzer 38 Hetzer. After creating a number of improvised and not always successful designs light tank destroyers in 1943 by German designers managed to create a self-propelled, which successfully combined the light weight, strong and efficient booking service. Tank Destroyer was developed by "Henschel" on the basis of well-established Czechoslovak light tank chassis TNNR, who had German designation Pz.Kpfw.38 (t).

The new self-propelled gun had a low body with appropriate tilt the front and upper side armor plates. Installing the 75-mm gun with a barrel length of 48 calibers covered spherical armored mask. On the roof of the housing is placed 7.92-mm machine gun with the shield cover. Chassis made chetyrehkatkovoy, the engine is located in the rear of the chassis, transmission and drive wheels - in front. The self-propelled unit is equipped with a radio station and tank intercom. Some plants produced in the form of self-propelled flamethrower, with a flamethrower mounted instead of 75-mm guns. The issue of self-propelled units was started in 1944 and lasted until the end of the war. All were released about 2600 plants that were used in anti-tank battalions of infantry and motorized divisions.
