Description

Coronavirus / COVID-19 / 2019-nCoV / Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia (NCP) / Corona Virus Disease low-poly 3D model with PBR textures. Plus cross-section version with RNA spiral exposed. High-quality and production-ready. An accurate representation of the original object. Brought to you by the professional 3D artist Sergey Danchenko.

(!) This product DOES NOT INCLUDE source files. For this 3D model with source/build files (the ZBrush high-poly project, the Maya high-poly scene, the Substance Painter texturing project and the Marmoset Toolbag 3 textures bake scene) consider opting for the following product instead (copy and paste the link):

Kindly read the description for the complete overview of this product. Do check the embedded interactive Marmoset Viewer and YouTube video(s) in the preview section for enriched overview experience.

####### FEATURES #######

When you download this product, you will get the 3D asset that was designed to be flexible and adjustable on the customer side to provide additional value and usage possibilities:

  • One Coronavirus / 2019-nCoV / COVID-19 low-poly 3D model with PBR textures plus one cross-section version.
  • This 3D model design was based on the image in Public Domain that was released by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and is expected to be free of any copyright issues.
  • Logical parts as separate objects/meshes (see preview #29): Envelope, Spike Glycoprotein, Hemagglutinin-Esterase Dimer (HE), E-Protein, M-Protein, RNA.
  • The universal 3D model. Game-ready for Unity and Unreal Engine 4. Perfect for both real-time and offline usage.
  • PBR texture sets for following workflows:
    • Generic PBR Metallic/Roughness and PBR Specular/Glossiness.
    • Unity Metallic/Smoothness and Unity Specular/Smoothness.
    • Unreal Engine 4 PBR Packed.

#######

  • (!) The PSD file with masked parts/sub-meshes for base colors adjustments (see preview #49).
  • Objects have vertex color (polypaint) information as an alternative to bitmap textures (see preview #29).
  • The Marmoset Toolbag 3 pre-configured scene with textures and materials. This scene was used to capture preview images.

Other notable features:

  • Clean geometry, good surface flow and mesh topology.
  • An assortment of file formats available.
  • All preview images in a separate ZIP.
  • Product passport in PDF format.
  • The product is ready to be rigged and animated.
  • Extra Master ZIP with everything packed into one archive for easy download.

####### HOW TO USE #######

This product was designed to be straightforward to use as much as possible. However, depending on your particular software and requirements, some additional setup may be necessary. Usually, this is a 3-step process:

  1. Import the 3D model into your software of choice.
  2. Apply a PBR material(s) and link an appropriate texture set. Now you have a production-ready 3D asset!
  3. Setup the scene, lights and other components to meet your requirements.

Use native file formats such as .ma, .max, .blend and .ztl whenever possible. As an alternative, opting for a .FBX is a good choice.

####### TECHNICAL DETAILS #######

  • The integral object has 31455 vertices and 62358 triangles. The cross-section version is 20655 vertices and 41014 triangles.
  • All geometry meshes are triangulated. All polygons are triangles (ensures normal map consistency).
  • Polygons are single-sided by default. There are no LOD objects for this asset.
  • The geometry of this 3D model is uniform and subdividable. Common smoothing methods such as Subdivision/MeshSmooth/Turbosmooth can be used to give more definition to the 3D model. See preview images #43-#48.

#######

  • Not a real-world scale object (original object is microscopic).
  • The units system is metric. 1 unit = 1 cm.
  • Dimensions of the object / physical sizes: approx. 25x25x25 cm (units).

#######

  • UV-mapped and unwrapped with minimum distortions. UVs are packed for maximum texel density.
  • Only the Envelope UVs are uniquely mapped. Other sub-meshes have overlapping UVs.
  • Texel density for all sub-meshes except the Envelope is ~185 px/cm (unit) for a 4096x4096 texture map. The Envelope is UV mapped to ~85 px/cm (unit).
  • Only one default UV-channel (map1). No second UV channel for lightmap baking is provided out of the box.

#######

  • Total of 5 PBR texture sets. Texture sets for Unity and UE4 are channel-packed. See preview images #38-#42.
  • Texture bitmaps are 4096x4096 px (high-res 4K textures) in a TARGA file format (.TGA).
  • Normal maps in generic texture sets are provided in both OpenGL (Y+) and DirectX (Y-) encodings.
  • Only pristine textures. No dirty/weathered versions provided.

#######

  • This 3D asset is not modular. No recombination or reconfiguration options for this asset were intended.
  • Native file format: Maya (.ma). The Maya scene contains only the geometry in a display layer(s) with standard material of Lambert type applied. No texture bitmaps are assigned. There is no render setup for this file format out of the box.
  • No HDRI maps are provided with this product.
  • Some files are packed in ZIP archives. ZIP is the most common archive format available. No additional software is usually necessary to unpack them.

####### QUALITY ASSURANCE #######

This product had undergone a quality assurance inspection both visually and technically to ensure its proper functionality and optimal customer experience.

  • All scenes and files are clean and stripped out of unnecessary or junk objects. No additional cleanup is needed. Drag&drop into your software of choice, plug appropriate textures and you will have a production-ready 3D asset.
  • All meshes/sub-meshes/materials/textures/layers/groups are properly and meaningfully named.
  • Objects are centered to the world space origin (0,0,0). Pivots are placed to object's bounding box centres for easy placement and manipulation.
  • No non-manifold geometry in this 3D asset: no lamina faces, isolated vertices, overlapping vertices/faces and no missing UV coordinates.
  • All geometry transformations are frozen and reset. Translate/offset attributes for all objects are 0,0,0 and scale attributes are 1,1,1.
  • There are no external dependencies / additional plugins needed for proper usage of this product unless explicitly stated otherwise.

####### PREVIEW IMAGES #######

Preview images were rendered in real-time within Marmoset Toolbag 3 (the scene is included), Global Illumination and Local Reflections enabled. See preview image #21 for settings reference.

  • Preview images had not been post-processed. However, some post-effects in Marmoset Toolbag 3 were used. See preview image #22 for settings used.
  • For a default view without post-effects and Global Illumination / Local Reflections, see preview image #23.
  • The camera focal length for preview images was set to 35mm.
  • Use the Marmoset Toolbag 3 scene provided to get the same look as shown in preview images.

####### SPECIAL NOTES #######

Be advised that the 3D model visualization with different rendering solutions may/will yield slightly different results. Some variations are to be expected between real-time engines (such as Marmoset, Unity or Unreal Engine 4) and offline renderers (such as Arnold, Vray, Corona, etc.).

  • This 3D model is not ready for 3D printing and has not been made to meet 3D printing requirements out of the box. 3D printing may be possible, but is not supported by the artist. .STL file provided is only for the reference or as a starting point for further modifications (if necessary).
  • This 3D model design was based on the image in Public Domain that was released by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and is expected to be free of any copyright issues.
