Elephants were domesticated as far as more than 1500 years in Nepal, during the the kings of Makwanpur reigns. From what we know of historians researchs, they captured wild elephants in the Bhabar forests to sold them to the Mughal rulers of India.

Elephants are an integral part of Nepalese culture because of their domestication for multiple purposes.

There is a Om symbol on the side of the sculpture. In Hinduism, it is one of the most important spiritual symbols
