Description

Name: Calamites Undulatus

Period: Carboniferous to early Permian. 360 to 250 million years ago.

This Variation: 1 of 5. This is a High Poly model. A Low Poly version is also available.

Notes: An extinct, tree-sized plants that lived during the Carboniferous and early Permian periods to which the modern horsetails (genus Equisetum) are closely related. Unlike their herbaceous modern counterparts, these plants were medium-sized trees which grew to heights of more than 10 meters. Although its stem was woody, it was nonetheless a delicate plant that grew in the sub-story of prehistoric forests. Several sub-genera of Calamites existed, this species fell into the category Calamitina and is probably the best known of the Calamites. The terrestrial parts did not branch once emerged from the central stem. These plants grew from an underground connected network of rhizomes as well as from seeds. It appears to have preferred sandy riverbanks and floodplains and grew mainly as part of the sub-story of prehistoric forests. Fossils have been found virtually the world over suggesting the plant had a global range.

Included in this Package: 12 models in total

  1. Standard -- 110,914 polygons, 176,453 vertices, 10.88m tall. Fully mature and in good health. Useable in most scenes.
  2. Thriving -- 113,596 polygons, 180,378 vertices, 10.88m tall. Peak health.
  3. Distressed -- 95,022 polygons, 148,073 vertices, 10.88m tall. Declining health with some diseased and broken foliage.
  4. Unhealthy -- 69,500 polygons, 105,052 vertices, 10.88m tall. Poor state with considerable foliage missing or diseased.
  5. Dying -- 57,942 polygons, 82,274 vertices, 11.47m tall. Just hanging onto life and showing only unhealthy and diseased foliage.
  6. Dead -- 41,442 polygons, 55,253 vertices, 11.22m tall. Showing only bare and broken branches and dead foliage.
  7. Ancient -- 116,626 polygons, 181,165 vertices, 12.14m tall. Very old plant, larger and considerably gnarled.
  8. Young -- 91,740 polygons, 148,445 vertices, 7.87m tall. Smaller plant, fully mature but still growing.
  9. Growing -- 34,282 polygons, 61,184 vertices, 4.27m tall. Plant not yet mature, some half way through its growing cycle.
  10. Immature -- 7,282 polygons, 16,394 vertices, 1.26m tall. Very small and young plant.
  11. Forming -- 4,439 polygons, 10,451 vertices, 33.96cm tall. Extremely young and small but taking on its adult shape.
  12. Seedling -- 2,448 polygons, 8,462 vertices, 9.2cm tall. Recently sprouted.

Re-meshing and any reasonable modification available upon request. No charge to existing customers of the product.

The textures included are mainly 4k (4096x4096); additional texture sizes of medium 2k, small 1k, and tiny <1k can also be downloaded.
