Notes: A grand tree with a large wide spreading crown of rugged branches. It may naturally live to an age of many centuries (the oldest known example is thought to be more than 1,500 years old). Today, as in the past, English Oaks are planted as an important forestry tree producing a durable and attractive hardwood. There is considerable folklore and mythology associated with this tree making it an important spiritual and cultural species in many regions and religions. Native to most of Europe, Asia Minor and parts of North Africa. It is widely cultivated as an ornamental tree in temperate regions, and has become naturalised in many parts of its introduced range. It often forms dense woodland.

  3. Autumn -- 17,230 polygons, 31,328 vertices, 22.25m tall. Leaves have changed colour and some fallen.
  4. Winter -- 17,150 polygons, 31,204 vertices, 22.25m tall. Barren branches.
  5. Thriving -- 18,964 polygons, 34,672 vertices, 22.13m tall. Peak health.
  6. Distressed -- 13,789 polygons, 25,032 vertices, 22.13m tall. Declining health with some diseased and broken foliage.
  7. Unhealthy -- 10,351 polygons, 18,566 vertices, 22.58m tall. Poor state with considerable foliage missing or diseased.
  8. Dying -- 5,729 polygons, 9,933 vertices, 22.58m tall. Just hanging onto life and showing only unhealthy and diseased foliage.
  9. Dead -- 2,330 polygons, 3,661 vertices, 21.8m tall. Showing only bare and broken branches and dead foliage.
  10. Ancient -- 18,174 polygons, 32,199 vertices, 25.17m tall. Very old plant, larger and considerably gnarled.
  11. Young -- 13,070 polygons, 24,197 vertices, 20.13m tall. Smaller plant, fully mature but still growing.
  12. Growing -- 5,560 polygons, 10,252 vertices, 14.19m tall. Plant not yet mature, some half way through its growing cycle.
  13. Immature -- 2,282 polygons, 3,686 vertices, 8.87m tall. Very small and young plant.
  14. Forming -- 663 polygons, 1,190 vertices, 2.82m tall. Extremely young and small but taking on its adult shape.
  15. Sapling -- 1,064 polygons, 1,647 vertices, 1.55m tall. Recently sprouted.
