Does anyone know how to remove the black planes around the branches (blender 2.9, imac)

Hello Uetz. Thank you for purchasing. It hard to know. first I am never worked with Blender. Second I have no idea how it is looks like in your side. Is it only black squares instead of small branches. Or a frame around brunch itself. In any case it is a texture\shader problem, because the smallest branches are expressed by texture with alpha channel. I hope if you post the question on forum, better on Blender forum together with screen shot, you will get help easily.

nice models but did you rig and animate them manually or do they sense the terrain and adjust the roots automatically?

Thank you! The trees need to be animated manually. You are who decide how the tree will looks like. :)

The twisty trunks and branches make these trees seem alive, ready to ensnare unsuspecting travelers. The roots of each tree lifts its trunk off the ground, reminding me of the Ents in Lord Of The Rings. It's a nice effect for characters in my OpenGL fantasy mobile game to walk over the ropey roots and peer under the trunks of these ancient forest guardians. Both twig and leaf options are provided for the ends of branches. These are implemented with transparent planes, World of Warcraft style, considerably reducing the number of polygons otherwise needed. The downside of this is some artifacting from anything behind the transparent areas not showing if not drawn first. Also the color file can't be saved in a more memory friendly JPG format as transparency needs to be preserved. Root, stump and branch objects are provided besides the complete tree. The modern feature of rigging is included, although I can't take advantage of this myself as OpenGL just uses an object file. One could experiment with matrix adjustment of the object file vertices, however, for real time movement of the roots. All in all a very imaginative and unique set of models to build a haunted forest.
