Metal rectangular casing, painted green, with vertical gas inlet pipe on left hand side and outlet pipe on right hand side. Pipes are of 1 inch (25 mm) diameter and have external brass threads. Includes a linear glass-fronted dial showing amount of gas paid for, two slots (for sixpences and shillings) set into a dial in the centre of which is a large wing nut. Below this is a drawer to hold coins, with a handle, lock, provision for a padlock and a list of instructions. At the front right top is a glass-fronted 6-clock meter for accumulated gas usage, now reading 17,369 cubic feet.
