Horst Brüning for Kill International, daybed model 6915, chrome-plated steel, leather, Germany, 1960s.

This well-designed daybed shows a solid construction of delicate lines and round edges. Most remarkable is the minimalist chrome frame that holds the light cognac leather mattress in a graceful manner. The thin chrome slats develop into the legs creating a nearly floating appearance and which specialize the design and highlight the admirable craftsmanship. Nothing touches, nothing clashes, which gives this piece of furniture a completely peaceful yet strong expression. A piece like this will stand the test of time.

Horst Brüning is a designer whose keys ideas are minimalism, functionality, durability and the spirit of the time. On the other hand, however, Brüning 's furniture is timeless. Brüning studied Architecture and Interior Design at the College of Graphic Arts in Hamburg until 1956. In 1963 he set up an architecture and design office in Stuttgart. During this period, Brüning encountered Kill International, Kill International is an established and famous manufacturer, who have also produced many designs by Preben Fabricius and Jörgen Kastholm. Brüning has also worked together with this architect duo.
