Description

Detailed model of the Iron Giant, as seen in the movie 'The Iron Giant' (1999).

Its creation is based on the original 3D model used in the film, along with twenty images of official figures and illustrations.

The model has a combination of UV textures, PBR textures and complex materials, in order to give the best visual results.

The character comes in two color variants: a metallic version for realistic renderings, and another version with the same gray colors of the movie model.

An extra .rar file with the textures only is also included.

In the .blend file, the SubSurf (Subdivision) modifier is not applied in the meshes, allowing you to adjust the resolution as necessary -the provided polycount is with the subdivision applied-.

I just ran this through the XCode to produce the usdz file using ````xcrun usdz_converter Iron-Giant-Final.obj iron-giant.usdz```` but it doesn't have a full picture, only the body and parts of the arms and legs. Any ideas? Also the model is standing in a T shape rather than what you've got on the screenshots, is that expected?

Hi, I tested the .obj file in several programs and it was complete, but honestly I don't know the program you're talking about. I hope someone here can help you with this as quickly as possible.

Hi there, I'm using the command line tools for XCode10 on the mac (the iOS development too https://developer.apple.com/xcode/ ). I'm trying to get this exported as a usdz file to be used with WebKits Web AR platform ARKit. I'll send a link to an example through the direct messaging.

Braizero, Is there any chance you can reach out either through these comments or on email to find a solution for this?

Hi, yes, you won't have any problem animating it. I designed the model with the specific idea of rigging it, although in the end I didn't rig it because I am not so good in that area. Each part of the robot's limbs is an individual mesh, so that it is very easy to articulate them.
