This Portal is the main entrance of the central Italy Benedectine Abbey of Farfa, built in the 8th century. In this Abbey stopped king Carlo Magno, just before going to Rome to be nominated Empereor (25 Dec 800). The portal has been built around year 750 during the completion of the Abbey.
