Hiller X-18 - Tiltwing Experimental Aircraft

Hiller X-18 - Tiltwing Experimental Aircraft 3D model

Description

Perfect for use in games and simulation projects. This kooky 1950s plane led to one of the US Military's most important modern aircraft. The Hiller X-18 experimental cargo transport aircraft, was designed as the testbed for tiltwing, VTOL research, and experimental landing technology. Funded by the USAF, design work began in 1955 by the Hiller Aircraft Corporation. The plane was largely constructed using scavenged parts from previous test aircraft failures. The Hiller X-18 was plagued with technical problems such as suceptibilty to wind gusts and non-cross linked engines, thrust control and throttle changes. The only one of its kind, the X-18 provided valuable insights into aeronautical V/STOL research.

Formats include: 3DS MAX, DXF, OBJ, FBX
