The Airbus A380-800 is a wide-body commericial airliner developed and manufactured by Airbus. It is the worlds largest commericial airliner ever built. The Airbus A380 project was announced in 1990 to challenge the Boeing 747, and launched on December 19th, 2000. It obtained type certificate from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on December 12th, 2006. The first customer, Singapore Airlines, recieved their first order on October 15th, 2007, and entered service on October 25th.
