Viagra, or sildenafil (formula: C22H30N6O4S; CAS: 139755-83-2), is used to treat erectile dysfunction. Side effects include headaches, heartburn and flushes. Serious side effects include priapism which can lead to damage to the penis. It should not be taken by people with cardiovascular disease. It acts by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) which regulates blood flow in the penis.
