3D Model Competition
Two years ago we at CGTrader challenged ourselves to create a vibrant, alive, and fair 3D model marketplace. Next month we are celebrating our birthday. The best present for us would be your challenge to participate in 3D Model Competition.
We know you are highly creative, so there is no point in hiding your 3D models. If you have not made your mind up about selling your models worldwide yet - this challenge is an opportunity to try it out! Let your fantasy come true. A participation is only possible if you follow these rules:
Rule number 1: you are a fanatical 3D model designer.
Rule number 2: follow rule number 1.
All you have to do is: a) choose the best 3D models of yours; b) upload your 3D models to CGTrader website from the 13th of February to the 15th of March - and you are automatically participating in the 3D Model Competition. Prizes will definitely warm you up.
This is 3D Stock Competition, so prepare your models for selling online.
Nominations and Prizes
There are two categories of award in this challenge. Each of them will hold one winner and two runners-up.
Best 3D Model Portfolio
A designer will be awarded by judging quantity and quality of the models uploaded during the competition period.
For the winner:
- Forest Pack Pro or RailClone Pro 1 year license by Itoo Software
- 300 USD in cash
- 300 USD in CGTrader activation credits
- Stash subscription for 1 year
- Training DVD download of choice by Eat3D
- RenderPoints Silver package by UltraRender
- EXPOSE 10 book by Ballistic
For the two runner-ups:
- Training DVD download of choice by Eat3D
- 200 USD in CGTrader activation credits
- Stash subscription for 6 months
- RenderPoints Standard package by UltraRender
Best 3D Model
An award will be given for the highest quality 3D model uploaded during the competition period.
For the winner:
- Cinema 4D Visualize or Broadcast software with Bodypaint by Maxon
- 200 USD in cash
- 200 USD in CGTrader activation credits
- Stash subscription for 1 year
- Training DVD download of choice by Eat3D
- RenderPoints Silver package by UltraRender
- The Art of Gears of War book by Ballistic
For the two runner-ups:

Judging
The judging of the challenge will be performed by the CGTrader staff internally. Winners will be chosen following the requirements below:
Best 3D Model Portfolio
- The number of published 3D models
- Overall quality of submitted 3D models and accessory images
- Correct naming of objects
- Clean scenes, shaders and adequate illumination are required
- Clear and informative descriptions of products
Best 3D Model
- Overall quality of 3D model
- Level of aesthetics, details, topology and realism
- Quantity and quality of submitted accessory images of 3D model
- Only sharpening and subtle colour corrections are allowed
- No hidden or unnecessary objects or lights in the scene
- Correct naming of objects
- Definite and informative descriptions of submitted products
FAQ
I have already published some of my 3D models on CGTrader platform. Do they count as entries into the challenge?
No. Only 3D models uploaded in a period from 13th of February to 15th of March will be treated as valid entries.
How will you judge entries for the Best 3D Stock Seller award? What is more important: the quantity or the quality of the uploaded 3D models?
Both factors are highly important. For example, an author who submits a huge library of 3D models will have more chances to win. But every of uploaded model must be high quality. Only exceptional models can win.
Do free 3D models participate in the challenge?
Yes, indeed. Sharing artwork is always appreciated in the community.
Could I publish textures, tutorials, scripts or other computer graphics assets?
No. The competition is open for 3D models only.
Could I upload unfinished 3D models of mine (e.g. the back side does not contain any details)?
Yes, but you must inform about that in the description of the product. The competition is open to the models that are redy to be sold.
Can I sell my 3D models which participated in a challenge for the other marketplaces as well?
Yes. There are no restrictions on publishing and selling your models elsewhere.
Do the price tags play any importance when entries are being judged?
No. But do not forget that the prices are always judged by customers.
Terms and Conditions
3D Stock Challenge will run from the 13th of February to 15th of March. Only 3D models uploaded during this period of time will be able to participate in a competition and are eligible to win any of the prizes.
A competition is open to everyone, including teams and legal entities.
Participating in a challenge and uploading 3D models on CGTrader platform is free of charge.
By entering a competition, an entrant guarantees that he or she is the sole copyright holder of a model and indemnifies CGTrader from any subsequent claims that may arise regarding a question of ownership.
All the entries must be original and not derivable.
All of the entries will be judged on the rules outlined in the section “Judging”. Any interpretation or reconsideration of the rules is a sole discretion of the judges.
Employees and relatives of the CGTrader team are not allowed to participate in this competition.
Any existing taxes or duties must be paid by the winner. CGTrader is not responsible for any of the illegal actions taken by the prize winners.
All participants and uploaded 3D models must adhere to the Terms and Conditions of the competition.
